Dutch artist Klaas Kloosterboer, born in 1959, profoundly explores the medium of painting. He challenges its boundaries and questions its meaning—not through investigating its figurative or abstract expressiveness, nor through investigating paint as a substance, but through exploring painting as action. Sometimes described as the greatest non-verbal theorist in painting, Kloosterboer’s work is marked by unassailable honesty, particularly towards his artistic self.
His work is included in all major Dutch museum collections, and in many private collections in Belgium and abroad.
