Takao Minami was born in 1976 in Japan. He lives and works in Paris and Osaka. He completed in 2001 his postgraduate studies in new media art at the International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS) in Gifu. His artwork was shown in about ten solo exhibitions, recently including the Mito contemporary art center (Ibaraki, Japan) and the Ota Fine Arts Gallery (Tokyo, Japan). He participated in more than about twenty group exhibitions in Asia and Europe.
Takao Minami produces artworks that create undiscovered audio-visual experience. His art builds up from an empirical study of his immediate environment. By the use of audio-visual recordings, building materials and body, he constructs the relationship among those materials in a creative way.
