Lin Zhipeng’s seemingly informal photographs, when viewed together comprise a striking documentation of a particular fringe youth culture. A lightness and playfulness, sometimes bordering on stupidity, paired with a rich and sharp aesthetic sensibility gives these photographs their appeal. Sex and youth are the subjects that most inspire him, and he has described the qualities he aspires to in his work in three words: ‘casualness, improvisation and selflessness.’

He has exhibited widely both abroad and in mainland China at places such as the Three Shadow’s Photography Center, Arario Gallery, and Max Lang, NYC. Lin has also contributed to numerous popular lifestyle and fashion magazines including Vice, S magazine and Wallpaper.
