Husband and wife collaborators, Mark Barrow and Sarah Parke, share a unique practice that investigates the materiality of painting and perception. Deeply invested in the intrinsic human neccessity to organise natural phenomena, the duo have developed a process which includes the hand-made production of unique textiles. Parke creates fabrics which are then painted over by Barrow resulting in textured and multi-layered compositions. The loom is not only an integral tool for the couple, but as one of the first machines developed by humanity, underscores the universal themes within their work.
