Born in Shantou, Tsang Kin-Wah moved to Hong Kong in 1982. After graduating from the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2000, he received a master's degree from the Camberwell College of Arts, London Institute in 2003 under the British Chevening Postgraduate Scholarship.

Among these years, he has taken part in various group exhibitions such as The State of Things (National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo), Preview (Fat Galerie, Paris), 30 x 30 (Vertigo Gallery, London), Hong Kong Art Biennial (2001, 2003 and 2005), Dutch Design Week 2005 (Temporary Art Centre, Eindhoven), etc. and has his solo exhibitions Showcase: Tsang Kin-wah (Tokyo, 2006), Wallpaper: Painted Patterns (Barcelona and Madrid, 2006), White Cube (Hong Kong, 2005) and Space (Shanghai, 2004) in various cities.
Tsang has received many awards such as the 2005 Sovereign Asian Art Prize (Sovereign Art Foundation, 2005), Prize of Excellence (Hong Kong Art Biennial 2001), etc. His works are collected by Sovereign Art Foundation, Museum of Design Zurich (Switzerland), Hong Kong Museum of Art, Camberwell College of Arts (London) and private collectors.
