Henry Moore's rarely seen tapestries grace the walls of Hauser & Wirth's Hong Kong space, marking the first time these exceptional works have been exhibited publicly in the past decade, and the first time in Asia.
As one of the most prolific British sculptors of the 20th century, Moore was one of few modern artists who delved into textiles. In collaboration with West Dean Tapestry Studio, Mary Moore (Henry's daughter) and The Henry Moore Foundation commissioned 23 tapestries, 5 of which are on view in Hong Kong.
Retaining all the detail and textural qualities of his original drawings and sculptures, these tapestries are exquisite translations of the biomorphic forms that defined Moore''s five-decade-long career.
Tapestries is on view at Hauser & Wirth until 27 November.
