Passionate in drawing and painting, Wahib Chehata composes his photographs like a painter who paints his painting. His works are approached through two complementary angles: scenes and portraits. Chehata is interested in the religious themes of Renaissance, in the 'Clair-obscur' of Caravage, and also in the emotion of Romantisme. He has created his own 'Romantisme' by absorbing the exaltation and mystery in Romantisme, by using his skill to describe different kinds of scenes and by learning the Christian mythologies. Chehata believes that art should not provide answers but give interrogations to the human race, he aims to invent a new mythology reconstructed from common references and destroyed through others. His works are often antagonistic and associate flaws with virtue, the primordial dawns with the apocalyptic crash, the fantastic with a concrete side.
