Almine Rech at West Bund Art & Design will be presenting a solo project of Genesis Tramaine.
Genesis Tramaine (b. 1983 in New York) is an expressionist devotional painter who creates abstract portraits of men and women who transcend gender, race, and social structures. She digests the everyday and regurgitates it as work that evokes déjà vu, beckoning memories of past lives and glimpses of undiscovered futures. The blueprint of Genesis' style is rooted in strong mix of 1980's urban New York graffiti, and imagined images of gospel hymns sung on Sunday morning during church.
Tramaine's works are represented in the public collections of the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, the Brant Foundation, the Rubell Museum, the COSA Museum, and the Israel Museum, among others.
On the occasion of West Bund Art & Design, Almine Rech is also thrilled to present a unique salon showcasing a selection of multimedia works from worldwide known artists to the Chinese audience, including Justin Adian, Alice Anderson, Johan Creten, Günther Forg, Peter Halley, Aaron Johnson, Scott Kahn, Markus Lüpertz, Turi Simeti, Taryn Simon, Vaughn Spann, Chris Succo, Thu Van Tran, Kim Tschang-Yeul, andTom Wesselmann.
