This book was published in conjunction with the exhibition Magritte et la Lumière held at Almine Rech Gallery Brussels, from May 16th to July 20th, 2009.
For the 2009 inauguration of the Magritte Museum in Brussels, Almine Rech Gallery organised an exhibition in conjunction with the opening event on the theme of Magritte and light. The echibition, aimed to present works from contemporary artists with an affinity to Magritte in order to express the great influence the latter has had on contemporary practices. The exhibition featured works by John Baldessari, Urs Fischer, Sylvie Fleury, Mark Handforth, Gregor Hildebrandt, Mike Kelley, Jeff Koons, Joseph Kosuth, René Magritte, Kris Martin, Anselm Reyle, Ugo Rondinone, Ed Ruscha and Gavin Turk.
