ARARIO GALLERY will participate in Art Busan from 12 to 15 May 2022. For this year's presentation, the gallery will exhibit works by KIM Soun-Gui, who is scheduled to hold a solo exhibition at the ZKM Center for Art and Media and participate in the 58th Carnegie International later this year; and paintings by Subodh GUPTA, who recently presented a cooking performance, directed by world-renowned curator Hervé MIKAELOFF, inside a metallic hut installation comprised of found aluminum kitchen utensils. Depicting various tablescapes reminiscent of the century long Crown rule in India and its colonial food culture, the works to be presented at the fair are a tangible extension of the artist's Venice Biennale project. The paintings reveal the intersection between modernity and tradition; the ruling and the ruled; and mundanity and sacredness found within the complex layers of culture, history, and religion.
GWON Osang—who is holding a collaborative exhibition, which surveys his practice from 2004 to today, at Suwon Museum of Art, Art Space Gwanggyo—will unveil new works from his 'Deodorant Type' series, abstracting the heads of the operatic tenor, Luciano PAVAROTTI and famous Hollywood actor, Adrien BRODY. The artist will also present his photography series, 'The Flat', as well as his recent furniture series. In addition, works by KIM Inbai, who is participating in the group exhibition, Modern Life at Daegu Art Museum; LEE Jihyun, who is currently having a solo exhibition for the first time in ten years at Arario Gallery Seoul; and Kohei NAWA, whose 25-meter-tall Ether sculpture is scheduled to be installed in Ile Seguin, France this summer will be on view. LEE Jinju, who was well-received at Art Busan in the previous year for her solo presentation at the 'Impression' section, will show new works alongside a diverse range of works by artists such as CHOI Byungso, KIM Taeho, Park Kiwon, AHN Jisan, WON Seoungwon and JANG Jongwan.
Finally, for this year's presentation, ARARIO GALLERY will introduce two new NFTs by NOH Sangho, who sold out five editions of 'THE GREAT CHAPBOOK' series at the Klip Drops Inaugural Special Exhibition. NOH Sangho, who connects and reconstructs everyday images collected from the Internet and social media on carbon paper, received significant attention through his recent NFTs, which were made by rearranging 3D scan data taken while playing video games. On 14 May, the artist will participate in CONVERSATIONS organised by Art Busan, covering the topic of 'Artist in the era of NFT art.'
