AHN Changhong, who is strengthening his position in the South Korean contemporary art history, has been putting a portrayal of modern history in Korea into art based upon records of individuals. Representing the phases of the times, his works show the tragic aspects of the Korean history such as the Japanese occupation period, the negative effects of Capitalism in South Korea, and the wound from the absurd society. This social consideration of his art works is ultimately extended to the existential matters called "life and death".
