Sarah Chilvers is known for her systematic drawings emerging from radiating lines and blocks of colour. Emanating from a central point, Chilver’s often-circular works of varying scale form a key element of Chilvers practice. Continuing along a similar theme the artist’s sculptures explore a three dimensional space in a more literal sense. Playfully juxtaposing the accuracy of the composition with found materials consciously breaking with the mantra of precision as a means of fulfilment. Although the artist also make’s work through video, photography and temporary installations, it is these drawings and sculptures, which best showcase the artist’s inherent understanding of composition. Sarah Chilvers was born in 1970, she lives and works in mid Wales.
