Djamel Tatah was born in Saint-Chamond, France in 1959. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Saint Étienne from 1981 to 1986 and moved to Marseille in 1989. In 1999, Tatah held his first solo exhibition at the Galerie Liliane and Michel Durand-Dessert in Paris. Tatah currently lives and works in Provence and teaches at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
