Terry Winters' work is strongly grounded in a modernist sensibility. His early works feature a monochromatic palette, while his later works draw on botanical studies, medical photographs and architectural drawings. Winters' paintings give a diagramatic rather than literal rendition of his subject and are often composed of repeated units and forms, stressing the underlying structure of his works. His works are also characterised by their strong graphic quality biomorphic forms.
