Dario Pérez-Flores Biography

Né en 1936 à Valera au Venezuela. Il étudie la culture à l'Université d'arts plastiques de Valence. Et à partir de 1966 il concentre ses recherches sur l'abstraction géométrique. Il vit et travaille à Paris depuis 1970. Après ses premières sculptures, il entame en 1972 ses premiers reliefs mobiles trames actionnés par des moteurs. Des lignes qui se déplacent à la fois dans le sens vertical et horizontal sur un fond, modifiant ainsi la relation espace-fond-couleur. Ses premières œuvres sont en noir et blanc, il faudra attendre 1976 pour qu'il passe à la couleur et qu'il abandonne les moteurs. De là, il réalise ses premières œuvres « Prochromatiques » consistant en plusieurs bandes de couleur suspendues sur un fond de couleurs dégradées, qui créent, par le déplacement du spectateur, des atmosphères chromatiques changeantes.

Sphères, cubes et cylindres composent son œuvre et grâce auxquels il gagne notamment le prestigieux prix Arturo Michelena. Il est présent dans les foires et dans de nombreuses collections publiques de musées internationaux, il réalise aussi régulièrement des expositions notamment en France, Suisse, Chine, Angleterre ou encore aux Etats-Unis.

Born in 1936 in Valera, Venezuela. He studied at the Art school of Valencia. And since 1966 he focused his research in the geometrical abstraction field. Since 1970 he lives and works in Paris. After his first sculpture, in 1972, he started his mobil relief with a grid activated by motors. The lines are moving in a horizontal an vertical way on a background, which modify the relation between the space the background and the colour. His first art works are in black and white, but in 1976 he's moving to the colour and the motors are no longer used. From this time he realised his first 'Prochomatiques' which consist in several hanging coloured strips on a background composed in a gradation of colours, and by the movement of the spectator some changing chromatic atmosphere are created.

Sphere, cube and cylinder composed his work and through which he won the Arturo Michelena award. He is present in the different fairs and also in many international museum public collection. He regularly realises exibitions in France, Switzerland, China, England and United States.
