Jennifer İpekel's Roots Unity exhibition takes art lovers on a different journey. The world shaped by the batik technique in İpekel's textile and ceramic works allows us to discover our roots and universal values.
The exhibition focuses on the importance of textile works from different cultures in human history and their cultural heritage.
İpekel offers a new perspective by blending these works with philosophical teachings originating from nature.
The works in the exhibition represent the three realms of the Tribawana philosophy: Micro, Macro and Cosmos of Light. The works produced in line with this philosophical thought are based on creation incantations from different cultures and emphasise the bond between nature and humans. These enchantments can deeply affect a society's belief system, culture and worldview. These three concepts are used to understand the meaning of the universe and the place of man in Tribawana philosophy. It serves an important function in understanding man's relationship with the inner and outer universe and in ensuring inner harmony.
Fabric painting techniques and approaches in İpekel's works, as well as ceramic works, allow us to understand our relationship with nature more deeply and to see how nature reflects the creativity of humans as a part of the cosmos.
The exhibition, at Dirimart Pera between 7 May and 30 June 2024, offers a valuable opportunity to explore the relationship between İpekel's works and the synchronicity of nature and universe processes and to experience the tone of unity in diversity.
