Hsi-Te Sung Biography

SUNG Hsi Te (b. 1964) was born in Keelung, Taiwan. In 1999, he graduated in PhD from The Graduate School of Fine Arts from Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan. SUNG's latest solo exhibition, Mirror the Illusional Landscape, was held at Da Xiang Art Space, while he has been frequently attending art expos in Asia during these years. Through emotional sustenance, he injects warmth into the steel materials. Mainly, he attempts to reveal the permanent and changeable situations. Though seems ambiguous and contradictive, it is to represent his infinite mood. SUNG concentrates on the relationship between human, environment and shape. Based on the observation on landscapes from nature, he transforms them into rational and abstract appearances and delicate textures. Additionally, he includes non-matter elements such as light, power, and magnetic force, in order to present the interest of energy. Overall, featuring the accurate and lucid outline, SUNG puts his efforts on applying the characteristics of metal, to explore and to develop the unknown aspects of the material. In his art, he has been displaying the movement, stillness, existence and nonexistence by recording the moments of staying
