Firoz Mahmud works in interdisciplinary media including installation, photography, video, painting (Layapa Stencil) and drawing (proximate drawing) on photograph. Most of his works are based on indigenous past and present, political ideas of nationalism, humor, belief and stratifications within daily life.

He was born in Khulna, Bangladesh in 1974 and completed a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from the Dhaka University, Institute of Fine Arts in 1996. In 2001 he completed an MFA also at the Dhaka University. And in 2010 he completed a PHD at the Tokyo University of the Arts. The artist has had a number of major solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. He has also been a recipient of a number of awards and has a work in a number of international collections.
