We are proud to participate at Art Basel Unlimited for the first time. In collaboration with Bergamin & Gomide (São Paulo), we will present a monumental artwork by Antoni Tàpies: Duat (1994).
Antoni Tàpies (Barcelona, 1923 - 2012) was a key artist in the development of modern art in Catalonia and Spain, and one of the most important representatives of Informalism on an international scale. A lover of literature and music, he was interested in Eastern art and philosophy.
Widely recognized and studied, his work has been the object of numerous individual and collective exhibitions, and is present today in the collections of the world's most prestigious museums, including MoMA and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; Tate London; Kunsthaus, Zürich and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid. In 1958, Tàpies was awarded the First Prize for painting at the Pittsburgh International, and the UNESCO and David E. Bright Prizes at the Venice Biennale.
