Galeria Nara Roesler is proud to present a solo project by Cuban artist Marco A. Castillo for its online viewing room at Frieze 2020. Castillo is co-founder of the art collective Los Carpinteros, and his work is permeated by an interest in the history of Cuba and the country's post-revolutionary, social and cultural changes. Castillo has extensively investigated architecture, design and sculpture, which are fundamental aspects of the artistic practice in seeking to create installations, drawings and sculptures that engage with space and negotiate between the functional and non-functional, often expressed in humorous ways.
The fair will have its first preview day on Wednesday, May 6th and will open to the public on Friday Friday May 8th. On the morning of May 6th, Galeria Nara Roesler, in collaboration with Ella Studios and Fundación CIFO, will broadcast a live conversation between Ella Cisneros and Marco A. Castillo about the artist's trajectory. The event will be streamed live in both the gallery's and Cisnero's YouTube Channels at 11.30am EDT. The conversation will be held in Spanish.
