David Renaud is a French artist, born in 1965. He lives and works in Paris.
Read MoreHe graduated from Grenoble Beaux-arts in 1991. At the same time he was trained as a curator at the Ecole du Magasin. He teaches at Lyons Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts.
He brilliantly mingles scientific precision with total freedom. David Renaud deliberately plays with codes. He explores space, which allows him to work out both physical as well as mental experiments. He confronts human perception with organic elements (cells), geographic ones (maps and relief maps), or cosmic ones (stellar panoramas and futuristic architectures). His works disturb scales, alter distances and upset chronologies.
His work was shown in solo exhibitions: IN 2019 "L'invention du lointain" at Chateau d'If "Point Nemo" in 2015 at Gallery Anne Barrault, "L'Horizon Absolu" at the FRAC Poitou-Charentes in Angoulême in 2011, "Mars la Rouge" at the Theatre du Granit in Belfort in 2010, "Outland" at the Château des Adhémar, the Contemporary Art Centre of Montélimar in 2006...
David Renaud's works have also been shown in collective exhibitions at the Grande Galerie des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, at the National Museum of visual Art in Montevideo, Uruguay, at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Villeurbanne, at Mulhouse Kunsthalle, at the Contemporary Art Center (CAC) in Vilnius, Lithuania, at Palais de Tokyo Art Center and at George Pompidou Museum in Paris.
