Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla have collaborated on an extensive body of work since 1995. Through a research-based approach, their work traces intersections of history, material culture, and politics through a wide variety of mediums, namely performance, sculpture, sound, video, and photography.
Their work has been exhibited and collected widely in public institutions and private collections and was presented for the special project Puerto Rican Light (Cueva Vientos) at Dia Art Foundation, Guayanilla-Peñuelas, Puerto Rico in 2015.
Their last solo shows include Guggenheim Bilbao, Spain (2019), Walker Art Center, U.S.A. (2019); MAXXI, Rome, Italy (2018); the Abbaye de Royaumont, Asnières-sur-Oise, France (2016); the Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada (2016); Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, U.S.A. (2014); Trussardi Foundation, Milan, Italy (2013); Indianapolis Museum of Art, U.S.A. (2012); the US Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale, Italy (2011); the Museum of Modern Art, New York, U.S.A. (2010); The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo, Norway (2009); Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany (2008); Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2008); Serpentine Gallery, London, UK (2007); Kunsthalle Zürich, Switzerland (2007) and The Renaissance Society, Chicago, U.S.A. (2007).
Among numerous group exhibitions, they have participated in Sharjah Biennial 13, UAE (2017); Aichi Triennale, Japan (2016); the 51st and 56th Venice Biennale, Italy (2005, 2015); dOCUMENTA 13, Kassel, Germany (2012); the 5th, 7th, and 10th Gwangju Biennials, South Korea (2004, 2008, 2014) and the 24th and the 29th São Paulo Biennial, Brazil (1998, 2010).
In 2017, they were awarded The Scientific Merit Award for science and The Audience Award, at the 10th Annual Imagine Science Film Festival in New York (USA).
