In his upcoming exhibition Family, Richard Deacon presents a group of new, small-scale ceramics. They represent the British artist's unique approach to form and his deep-rooted interest in the quality of different materials, the unique handling of which has made him one of the world's most inventive and well-known sculptors in contemporary art. Deacon's fascination with ceramics as medium arises from the relationship between form and colour, volume and vibrantly glazed surface, as well as in the balancing act of control and coincidence, which lies in the fact that the interplay of colours results only in the final and irreversible firing process.
