HdM Gallery is delighted to present Colour Provokes a Psychic Vibration, a group show that celebrates the hedonism of colour, featuring Gioele Amaro, Nat Bowen, Spencer Sweeney, Elias Crespin, Xue Feng, Qian Jiahua, Martin Kollar, Manuel Mathieu, Fabien Mérelle, He An, Charles Sandison, Zhu Rixin, Hao Shiming, Claude Viallat, Wang Yi, Romain Bernini, Hu Weiyi, and Christopher Orr.
The ability to see art in the flesh again presents the opportunity to immerse in the physicality and the power of colour. As Wassily Kandinsky said, 'Colour is a power which directly influences the soul. Colour provokes a psychic vibration. Colour hides a power still unknown but real, which acts on every part of the human body.' Using colour as their primary instrument of expression, the featured artists juxtapose one tone against another to create abstractions in infinite variations. The symphonic arrangement of colour provokes a physical, emotional, and even spiritual response in the viewer. Reflecting and refracting their surrounding colours, the mirrored surfaces in the show render the scintillating works an animated dimension. The resulting vivid colour harmonies exude joie de vivre, mirroring the universal sentiment for life to pulse with vibrancy once again.
