Fay Ku's work is figurative, narrative and connects with the the artist's past and present cultural history. In Eat Bitter Ku presents a selection of edgy, thought provoking works in her signature multi-layered style, fusing Eastern and Western techniques. Ku reflects on childhood memories and recent personal experiences during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The pandemic was a challenging time and in some ways brought the artist back to a psychological place similar to when she was a child and had just immigrated to the United States from her birthplace Taiwan. Says the artist , 'My world narrowed to the distance only as far as I could walk, and the world was strange and we were isolated within it.'
