Published on the occasion of Lévy Gorvy's first solo exhibition with Adrian Piper, this catalogue examines themes the artist has explored throughout her career: the intersubjective and institutional formation of identity, including the categories of race and gender; racism as a type of xenophobia; and conceptions of political responsibility. Adrian Piper includes an essay co-authored by Begum Yasar, Senior Director at Lévy Gorvy, and Aliza Shvarts, an artist and PhD candidate in Performance Studies at New York University, that examines Piper's practice in light of current events, particularly the resurgence inxenophobic discourse in the wake of the 58th United States presidential election. The catalogue also features extensive documentation of the works in the exhibition, including It's Just Art (1980) and The Mythic Being series (1973–1976), as well as images of the first-ever installation of the site-specific work Here (2008/2017).
