While the global pandemic may have heavily restricted the ways in which we interact with and explore the world, it has also given us the freedom to reassess our perspectives towards life. We have learned to turn towards nature to seek enrichment, whether it be in our daily routines or the way we perceive art. It is with this hopeful heart that Liang Gallery presents this boundless and infinitely vivid exhibition for ART TAIPEI 2021.
The artists on show span generations and represent a variety of classical, modern, and contemporary Taiwanese art practices. The works range from Kuo Hsueh-Hu's gouache works created after his debut in the 1927 Taiwan Fine Arts Exhibitions, to Hsiao Chin's vibrant abstract works from the 1950s, to those of female artist Lee Chung-Chung, who was one of the first artists to create abstract ink art in the 1960s. Also on display are Yu Peng's delicate figures and landscapes expressed through ink, Liu De-Lang's magnificent landscape paintings of Taiwan, and Hsu Hui-Chih's poetic ink musings. There are also works from contemporary artists such as Jam Wu, Lo Chiao-Ling, Huang Yi-Sheng, Leo Wang, Hsu Chia-Wei, Hsu Che-Yu, Chou Tai-Chun, Yen Ching-Chieh, Tsai Chieh-Hsin, Chen Kuei-Yen, Yu Ya-Lan, Huang Yu-Hao, etc.
'A Majestic & Boundless Heart' is an exploration into the complexities facing today's world and the resulting reflections that have emerged, with each artist presented capturing a fascinating facet of Taiwanese art history and culture. It is, in short, Liang Gallery's voyage into the meaningful dimensions between art, nature, and humanity.
