Cristina Iglesias has participated in a number of international exhibitions and has represented Spain at the 1986 and 1993 Venice Biennale and at the Sydney Biennale in 2012. She has exhibited in various other international art shows including the exhibition Metropolis at the Martin Gropius-Bau, Berlin (1991); the Carnegie International, Pittsburgh (1995); SITE Santa Fe's 2006 Biennial and the 2011 Folkestone Triennial, England. She has had solo exhibitions at such international institutions such as the Kunsthalle Berne (1991); the Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (1993); and the Guggenheim Bilbao (1997), the Museu Serralves, Portugal (2002), the Whitechapel Gallery (2003), the Ludwig Museum, Cologne (2006), and at the Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain (2013).

The artists are El Anatsui, Byung Hoon Choi, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Olafur Eliasson, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Cristina Iglesias and Ai Weiwei, and they were commissioned to create a mix of sculptures, light installations and suspended artworks for the 14-acre premises, known as the Susan and Fayez S. Sarofim Campus.
