Born and raised in Kanazawa, Kenichi Yokono creates traditional woodblock prints, but he exhibits the carved woodblock prints themselves, not as a means of printing. Motifs from manga, anime, and horror films are scattered throughout his work, mostly in red and white, always with intricate detail and precise patterns. He excels at capturing the sinister or unsettling elements that lurk in our daily lives on the screen, but his pop and design-like screens make them brighter. He is an artist who is recognized in Japan, Europe and the United States.
