ONE FOUR is pleased to present New Order, a solo exhibition featuring a selection of black and white photographs by an emerging artist Yuki Yamazaki.
Born in Shizuoka, Yamazaki recalls a memory of his childhood living in a constant fear of Tokai earthquake that has yet to occur. He was brought up in a place where such natural disasters coexisted in his everyay life. It is the past memory yet a possible future lingered with fear. Yamazaki brings this ironic complexity of time- a continuation of the moment that has passed- and translates into a visual context we can relate.
The series of New Order are formed in two layers, an aerial photography of the artist's hometown as a base and a spread of 3D data in pattern as an overlay. Images are blended, creating a stimulating texture that is informative to certain eyes. This ambiguity in Yamazaki's work is something he contiunes to explore and define with the core understanding of history (the past) and digital era we live.
Yamazaki's works have been shown in internationally acclaimed fairs, including New City Art Fair, Special Exhibition with Kyotographie KG, fotofever and Athen Photo Festival; and published in Estein Studio as well as Fisheye Magazine, participating in various art book fairs that include New York Art Book Fair at MOMA PS1, LA Art Book Fair, Tokyo Art Book Fair and Stokholm Art Book Fair.Yamazaki currently resides in Kyoto, Japan.
