Jodie Carey (b. 1981, England) explores how society deal with life and death, love and loss, shaping somber works that dip the spectator his inexorable caducity. Carey analyses how people acts in front of their mortal condition and the continuous oscillation between forgetting and remembering: fascinated by the passing of time, the artist takes inspiration from ancient tradition and investigates the approach to life's end in searching for a primitive connection with the substance of life. Jodie Carey employs material charged of a symbolic meaning such as dust, blood, stone fragments or human hair, creating a sentiment of attraction and repulsion at the same time and affecting the viewer through the delicacy and fragility typical of all her production.Read More
