In 2016, further enhancing its position as a bridge between German and Italian contemporary art, Anselmi opened a new project space in his home-town, Rome. The small project room follows an independent direction from that of the main gallery in Berlin, focusing on new opportunities in relation to the specific environment of Italy—its location and contemporary art scene. Taking advantage of Italy’s unique settings, the gallery has held two major site specific projects beyond the gallery walls: The Hawt Show (2016, Borgo Colle Melone, Atina), and Palko (2019, Castello di San Basilio’s Chapel, Pisticci).

On the walls of Galerie Rolando Anselmi, pots, apparently from 18th Century China, are mounted onto a metal structure that presents them horizontally, replicating a modern sound system.
