TARO NASU is pleased to announce Jonathan Monk's solo exhibition.
Born in Leicester, Great Britain in 1969, Monk currently lives and works in Berlin. Recent exhibitions include Exhibit Model Six - The Tel Aviv Version CCA Tel Aviv, Israel (2019), Lenticular LeWitt TARO NASU, Japan (2018), Exhibit Model One, Kunsthaus Baselland, Muttenz, Switzerland (2016), Anything by the Smiths CAN Neuchâtel, Switzerland (2015), IMMA Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, Ireland (2014), COLOURS SHAPES WORDS (pink, blue, square, circle) CAC Malaga, Spain (2013) and more.
Homage, pastiche, double image, quotation, and dummy. Monk has developed his unique style of creation with much wit and humor incorporating the appropriation of masterpieces by the contemporary artists who he admires as heroes. 6 wool textiles with strong words would suggest matters of the history of art, gender issues, and the current situation of the world in the middle of an epidemic.
