Following Vincent Namatjira's standout show at Art Basel Miami Beach, we are pleased to present a new series of self portraits inspired by his trip - Vincent Goes to Hollywood.
The first Aboriginal Indigenous artist to show at the prestigious fair, Namatjira left the remote community of Indulkana and headed straight to the USA. The show garnered significant international attention and was a momentous occasion in his career.
In 2019 Namatjira's work was curated into Just Not Australian at Artspace, Sydney; the Asia Pacific Triennial at the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane; and ACCA, Melbourne. Previous institutional exhibitions include at the British Museum, London, 2015; TarraWarra Biennial, TarraWarra Museum of Art 2016 and Tarnanthi at the Art Gallery of South Australia 2017 & 2018. He has exhibited at Art Basel Hong Kong 2019, Art Basel Miami Beach 2018, Sydney Contemporary 2017 and Art London 2016.
