Dwarf, Dust, Doubt (25 October–22 December 2018) is Gimhongsok (b. 1964)'s second solo exhibition with Tina Kim Gallery. Consisting of a major essay by art historian Lynn Zelevansky, fully illustrated image plates, and the artist's own texts, the publication highlights Gimhongsok's ongoing engagement with the arbitrariness of value assigned to physical objects. His work further reflects on the political and social judgment implied by their use, rejecting the cavalier way people treat objects upon seeing them.
Born in Seoul in 1964, Gimhongsok graduated from Düsseldorf Kunst Akademie in Germany after obtaining his BA in Fine Arts at Seoul National University. Gim is currently a professor of Stage Art at Sangmyung University in Korea.
His works are included in many prestigious institutions including Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Los Angeles; Kadist Foundation, San Francisco; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH); Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto; National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane; Le Consortium, Dijon; National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Korea; Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA); Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art; and Artsonje Center, Korea.
