As we are currently in the year of French-Korean cultural exchange (2015-2016) the Musée d’art moderne et contemporain is continuing to support the Korean art scene by welcoming two temporary exhibitions dedicated to Lee Kang-So and Choi Byung-So.
Since 2005 the Museum has hosted many Korean artists: Lee Ufan, (2006), Hwang Young-Sung, (2007) Chung Sang-Hwa (2011), Lee Bae and Kim Sooja (2012), Lee Bul, Hye-Yeon Park, Seung-Yong Song, Bae Bien-U (2015), and helped to promote the art scene of the Far East which is still little known in France.
Choi Byung-So, born in 1943, began his artistic career in the 1970s. By using printed newspaper as his main material, he dedicates his work to re-making the world in his own way, so that his drawings or installations which he calls 'ready-made' link 'daily life to art to the reality of art'.
