Korean born Seung Yul Oh moved to New Zealand in 1997 and became a New Zealand citizen. Since graduating with an MFA from the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland in 2005, Seung Yul Oh has worked with numerous materials, constructing large scale egg-shapes from fibreglass and a woollen mammoth from mops.

Seung Yul Oh works fulltime as an artist and is occasionally called on by Auckland University's Elam School of Fine Arts to work with students. Internationally Seung Yul has embarked upon a new phase of his career aimed at taking his art to a wider international audience and the rapidly expanding Asia Pacific region. His work is represented in the collection of the Museum of New Zealand—Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington.
