Aditya Novali Biography

Adtya Novali was born in Solo, Indonesia, in 1978. Novali began painting as a child, participating in competitions in various cities. He then trained as a dalang, a shadow puppeteer, before moving onto studies in architecture and design. His works are playful and engaging reinterpretations of everyday realms.

In 2002 he received a Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture from the Universitas Katolik Parahyangan Bandung, Indonesia, and in 2008 he received an IM Master of Conceptual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Recent solo exhibitions include Painting Sense, Roh Projects Jakarta, 2014; Beyond the Walls, Primo Marella Gallery, Milan, Italy, 2013; and The Wall Series: Asian (Un)Real Estate Project, Project Stage, Art Stage Singapore, 2012.
