Angelo Volpe was born in Naples (Italy). In 1995 he obtained the Diploma of "Applied Art in Graphics for Advertising and Photography". In 2000 he completed his studies with a "Degree in Painting" from the Accademu of Fine Arts in Naples. From 2002 to 2007 he was the reference assistant for italy of the American artist Sol LeWitt. Angelo Volpe fuses images of different styles and contents with authentic artifice to arrive at a vision of contemporary art that combines the classical painting of the italian tradition, with the different launguages of popular culture and the phantasmagoric world of cartoons, interpreting the modern concepts of culture and identity. Volpe has costructed a grotesque and dreamlike aesthetic, constantly searching for new characteristics of the individual, in dynamic changes of forms and contents resulting from globalisation and cultural hybridisation. In Volpe's paintings humanity finds itself adulterated and decadent, but at the same time also jocose and romantic, in a dualism even of genre and in a search for memory and history, all rendered through strong and lively colours, between faces and atmospheres, bewitching and weird, and yet ironic, which push the viewer to question our human condition.
