Emily Allchurch (b. 1974, Jersey, Channel Islands, UK) first specialised in sculpture before developing her unique approach to reimagining historical artworks in a contemporary photo-collage style. Her works draw inspiration from Old Master paintings and prints that offer a social commentary on their times. Adopting the compositional framework of these original images has evolved as a useful device to allow her own explorations around architecture, place, and culture to emerge, infusing contemporary life with a sense of history.
