Julie Fragar Biography

Julie Fragar is a painter whose work is an ongoing thesis that follows the unravelling/building of a life, drawing from photographs of every avenue of her existence. This all-encompassing and ongoing autobiographical project has, while being an attempt at truthfulness, developed concurrently into the most elaborate of deceptions.Exhibitions include: "Primavera" Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney 2010; "Wilderness" Art Gallery of New South Wales 2010; "Temperature 2: New" Brisbane Art Museum of Brisbane 2009; "Optimism: Contemporary Australia" Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane 2008; "Rimbaud/Rambo" Neon Parc, Melbourne 2008; "2005 ABN AMRO Emerging Artist Award" (winner) Sydney 2005; "Archibald Prize 03" Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney 2003.For a full CV please contact the gallery.
