Kim Joon Biography

A master of digital three-dimensional image-making, KIM Joon uses 3-D animations software to create unique images of overlapping bodies. Striking imageries of hyper-realistic flesh and intertwined bodies create visual sensation while the ‘tattoos’ appearing as different forms of figures, patterns and textures reveal the hidden desire of the human and the society.

Of his use of tattoos, Kim explains, “I am interested in tattoos as a metaphor for hidden desire or a kind of compulsion engraved into human consciousness...I see the skin, or in some cases the monitor, as an extension of a canvas. Tattoos can reflect individual and collective reality or displaced desire.” Kim has participated in the 2nd Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art and Asian Art Biennial at National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
