Mondal's paintings are both subjective and objective at once, whilst being three-dimensional and schematic. He uses color with a varied intensity and plays between a dominant and recessive background and foreground, all in order to disorientate and interest the viewer. His work is both contemporary in a social and political sense, whilst also reflecting his Indian rural roots.
