Richard Maloy Biography

Richard Maloy was born in New Zealand in 1977, He studied at the University of Auckland and graduated with a master's degree in Fine Arts in 2002. Maloy works across a range of disciplines including sculpture, photography and video. In 2008 The New Zealand Film Archive (Auckland) exhibited New Work Old Work a selection of Maloy's video works from 1998-2008. In 2009 Maloy was awarded the inaugural Fulbright Wallace Award, and in 2010 traveled to the US as a visiting Fulbright Scholar, completing an artist residency at the Headlands Centre of the Arts in San Francisco.

Recent exhibitions include; Asia Pacific Triennial, Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (2012); Toi Aotearoa: Works from the Collection, Auckland Art Gallery (2011/12); SCAPE Biennial of Art in Public Space, Christchurch (2011); Catching Trucks, Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne(2011); Ready to Roll, City Gallery Wellington (2010); Raw Attempts, ARTSPACE, Auckland (2009). Maloy has a number of works in major public collections including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Auckland Art Gallery, Chartwell Collection and The Wallace Arts Trust.
