William Menzies Gibb was the son of Canterbury (South Island, New Zealand) artist, John Gibb.

Menzies Gibb studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne (1977-1879), exhibiting with the Canterbury Society of Arts, Christchurch, New Zealand (1882-1922).
His work is held in the collection of the Christchurch Art Gallery, New Zealand.
