Cheng Xinhao's practice largely centres around two marginal groups: the Mang People, an ethnic minority group living along China's border with Vietnam, who feature in the works showing at Staged; and the labourers at the Sanhe Labour Market, new migrants living in the Shenzhen Longhua Industrial District.
By following these groups for long periods and engaging in multidisciplinary artistic methods, the artist explores the personal impacts of the ever-expanding system of global capitalism.
