Ocula City Wellington Often referred to as New Zealand's cultural capital, Wellington has a lively visual arts scene. The City Gallery and Dowse Art Museum both focus on contemporary art, the City with a more rigorous program and the Dowse also showing craft. Wellington also has a few good dealer galleries and independent spaces that punch above their weight. The national art collection of New Zealand can be seen at Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, situated on the waterfront.
