The Pinault Collection has recently acquired six works by rising-star painter Florian Krewer (b. 1986).

Krewer's hazy and saturated paintings often incorporate animistic tropes and explore the life of New York's queer and trans communities. The artist studied at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf from 2011 to 2017 under legendary painter Peter Doig.

In Paris this week for FIAC? Krewer's paintings are currently on view at the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection alongside works by Thomas Schütte and Martin Kippenberger.

The exhibition text notes that 'in Krewer's urban scenes, showing fights and "battles", the bully, the accomplice and the victim seem to merge.'

Krewer's current show with Michael Werner Gallery in London, ride or fly, runs until 13 November.
