Born in Spain, Lita Cabellut studied painting in the Netherlands, where the influence of 'Dutch light' dramatises her portraits. Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Vermeer, Francis Bacon and Goya are all cited as references to her work, yet the painter also experiments with a range of technique. Within her works she employs oil, fresco and acrylic in a single painting to give her subjects a living skin.
