Stijn Cole's work is initiated by a visual and material analysis of the subjective perception of time and space, taken from various viewpoints, timelines and landscapes. From gradual processes seen in nature including decomposition and reconstruction, Cole produces works by changing and rearranging elements such as image, colour, depth, perspective and form, establishing balance, linkage and coherence between abstraction and true representation. The relationship to his work happens both poetically and rationally not only through the senses, but when we are led to interpret the landscape from the division of the original components. Stijn Cole works with a wide variety of techniques, materials and formats.
